Medina County District Library is responsible for establishing the rules for public behavior in the Library. Any individual whose behavior is disruptive or in violation of library policy may be asked to leave library property and may lose library privileges. The library will work with law enforcement authorities to remove and/or prosecute actions for criminal behavior against the library, its patrons and staff.
People have a right to expect:
- Courteous behavior
- Reasonable noise levels
- Appropriate language
- Respect for people and property
- A clean, tobacco-free environment (including vaping)
- Quiet use of electronics, audio equipment and cell phones
- No use of skateboards and other athletic equipment on library property
Animals are not permitted in the library except for those assisting people with disabilities as per Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and those involved in library-sponsored programs.
Weapons of any kind, concealed or in plain view, are prohibited at all Medina County District Library locations. Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code, Sec. 2923.126, unless otherwise authorized by law, no person shall knowingly possess, have under the person’s control, convey, or attempt to convey a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance onto Library premises. This applies equally to those with or without a concealed carry permit. Other than law enforcement officers, no one may bring a firearm or other deadly weapon into a library building or onto library property except as stated below.
- Each firearm and all of the ammunition remains inside the person’s privately owned motor vehicle while the person is physically present inside the motor vehicle, or each firearm and all ammunition is locked within the trunk, glove box, or other enclosed compartment or container within or on the person’s privately owned motor vehicle;
- The vehicle is in a location where it is otherwise permitted to be.
Notwithstanding anything in this policy, the Library will at all times follow the Ohio Revised Code and federal firearms law.
