December 2025, January, February 2026 News and events at Medina County District Library • mcdl.info Library Live See page 15 for details • Sponsored by Friends of MCDL Winter Reading for Adults January 5 - March 15

When talking with community members, I love to hear what they’re reading and how books and authors have made lasting impressions in their life. It’s wonderful to see our own story reflected in the stories of others. Seeing ourselves in books helps us feel less alone and more connected to the world around us. The power in books is in what lifts off the page and settles into our hearts and minds. It’s stories, wisdom, and memories that give books such significance. MCDL exists to enrich life in our communities, and books are the primary vehicle through which we fulfill our mission of service to the community. In the library’s collection of books, whether on the shelves or downloaded on our favorite gadgets, we find a reflection of our own story. We strive to include all members of the Medina community within the pages of the books provided in the library. Through books and reading we can choose a path of lifelong learning and build empathy, understanding, and skills. We hold about 560,000 items in our MCDL collection, but because we are part of the CLEVNET consortium, patrons have access to a shared collection of 12 million items ranging from books and magazines, to music, film, and more. Whether you stop by the library for a new bestseller, to apply for a passport, or prepare for a citizenship test, it’s the service to our community which keeps the library a lively part of Medina County. If it’s been some time since you stopped by, I hope you visit soon!
