How do I get a library card?
Library card applications are available at all MCDL libraries. You must be an Ohio resident to register for a library card. After completing the application, you need to present photo identification with your name and current address, such as a driver’s license or Ohio state ID. Photo ID without the current address must be accompanied by printed personal mail postmarked within four weeks.
New! An online application is now available.
A parent or guardian must sign for a minor (under age 18) and present photo identification that has the parent’s or guardian’s name and current address, such as a driver’s license or Ohio state ID. Photo ID without the current address must be accompanied by personal mail postmarked within four weeks. The child applicant must be present.
Want access to MCDL's remotely accessible electronic resources, including online resources, downloadable eBooks, audio, video and music, but don't need to check out materials (e.g. books, CDs or DVDs)? Try an MCDL eCard. Note: a standard card allows you all the benefits of an eCard (and more).
3 for Me Library Card
These cards, for ages 12 and under, can be used to check out 3 children’s books and to sign up for computer use at MCDL libraries. A child may have a “3 for Me” in addition to their regular card. No ID or parent signature is needed. The child must know date of birth, address and phone number. These cards can’t be used for requests and the fine/fee limit is $10.00.
