Kym Lucas - Manager of the Buckeye Library
Kym Lucas

Kym manages the daily operations, programs and services of the Buckeye Library, Medina County’s first new library in more than 20 years. Buckeye Library opened in December of 2005 and differs from the other branches in several ways. Its collection is shared with Outreach Services and the Bookmobile and the library also shares a building with these departments and the maintenance department.

A long-time patron of Brunswick Library, she joined the staff there as a circulation clerk in 1991. The following year, she became a library associate, serving patrons of all ages at the same branch. After earning her Masters in Library Science from Kent State University in 1996, Kym became the Children’s Librarian at Huron Public Library that fall, later moving to the Cleveland Heights-University Heights’ Coventry Community Library as Reference Librarian.

IIn 2000, Kym returned to MCDL as Children’s Department Supervisor, becoming the Adult Department Supervisor in 2002. In June of 2005, Kym became the Buckeye Library Manager. Her system-wide duties include serving on the Adult Planning Team, the Writer’s Live Committee, Labor/Management, and Staff  Activities Committee.

Kym is a member of the Ohio Library Council and the American Library Association. She is also a member of the Public Library Association, where she has served on the Branch Libraries and Readers Advisory committees. In addition, she represents MCDL in the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce, serving on its Board of Directors.
