Medina County District Library’s newest director, Carole Kowell, is not new to the system or the community. First hired in 1989 as a substitute in the Medina Library’s children’s department, Kowell quickly moved to the Brunswick Library as a children’s associate. After completing her MLS degree at Kent State University in 1994, Carole became the Adult Department Supervisor and Brunswick Library Branch Manager in 2002.

Kowell is a member of the American Library Association and an active member in the Ohio Library Council, serving as a North Chapter Conference Coordinator and as a member of the Management and Administration Division action council. She is a graduate of Ohio Library Leadership (2000) and Leadership Medina County (2002).

Active in the community, Kowell serves on the boards of the Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Medina County (Vice President of Alumni), and Chamber Charities. She is a past volunteer for Ohio READS at Hinckley Elementary School and for the Medina County Park District.

Kowell lives in Hinckley with her husband Brian.
