| Medina Library Construction Update
|

The New Medina Library is now open.
The expansion project broke ground in November 2005 with a ceremonial first dig and reopened to the public on Saturday, January 12, 2008. Thousands of people came to celebrate with staff and explore their new library on opening day. Performers entertained as patrons gathered arm fulls of items to check out.
The Medina Library now offers new convenience services such as 24-hour pick up lockers and self-check out machines, 66 new public computers, wireless Internet and several meeting, tutoring and conference rooms for public use.
The library was completed in 29 months, and on budget at $20.4 million. More than $500,000 in private donations paid for the addition of many features including; a fireplace reading area, quiet reading area, featured artwork and educational toys for children.
