Lodi Library
LO-IMG_2505.jpgThe Lodi Library is a true community library.  The people of Lodi came together through various groups in the 1950’s to create the first Lodi Library in 1960.  The Lodi Library has been housed in several locations over the years, from a room in a local newspaper office, to the American Legion building, to a former funeral home and now in its brand new location at 635 Wooster St.  After more than 45 years, the community continues to be very supportive of the Lodi Library.

The Lodi Library is built in a lodge style, which fits well with the rural community.  Amish craftsmen constructed the timber frame and hand stained all the wood.  The fireplace mantle is made out of a beam from a barn that used to stand on the property.  The library features paintings by Lodi artist, Franklin Bates, who rose to fame in the 1970’s for his unique watercolor process.  Pictures of historic Lodi are etched in the glass above the information desk in the library. It also features a large meeting room with seating for ninety people and audiovisual equipment for presentations.  A Children’s Activity Room will host family programming, storytimes and educational play.  The Teen Department is a special section for teens to meet, use the computers and study.  The library also has a study room and a fireplace reading area for quiet reading time. The Lodi Library truly features something for everyone, enjoy!
