Buckeye Library
BU-IMG_2352.jpgThe Buckeye Library is the first brand new branch to be built by the Medina County District Library system in more than 20 years. It’s also the first new library to be built in a service area that never had its own library before. Bookmobile service has been popular in the townships comprising the Buckeye Local School District for years. With the passage of the MCDL bond issue in November 2003, it became possible to build a library that would serve the residents of Litchfield, Liverpool and York townships.

The Buckeye Library building is roughly 27,000 square feet, with about 9,000 square feet of that devoted to the public library. The remaining space provides office, storage and collection space for the system’s Outreach Services and Maintenance and Delivery departments. “Outreach Services” describes exactly what this special department does.  It’s the library department whose staff members reach out into the community to serve those who may not be able to visit a library. The Bookmobile, Home Delivery of Library Materials and the Early Childhood Librarian are all included in this department.
The Maintenance and Delivery department provides upkeep on all MCDL buildings and sorts and delivers several tons of library books and mail each year.  They make sure the books you request from within the Clevnet system or from across the country make it to the intended recipient…you, our patron!
